Cornwall’s makers, gathered by the sea for a day of craft, flavour and festivity
On Carnival Saturday, 8th August, The St Mawes Hotel will be hosting an Artisan Market from 10am to 4pm, transforming the harbourfront into a lively showcase of local creativity. Wander between stalls filled with handmade soaps and natural skincare, beautifully crafted gifts and cards, artwork and ceramics, millinery, jewellery, cakes, bakes and an ever‑changing selection of pieces from makers across the Roseland and wider Cornwall. It’s a chance to meet the artisans behind the work, discover something new, and enjoy the charm of a true village market set against the backdrop of the sea.
Throughout the day, the hotel will be alive with music, with live performances in the bar adding to the festive atmosphere. Outside, our Surf & Turf BBQ will be firing up the grill, serving deliciously smoky fish and meat alongside vibrant seasonal sides and chilled drinks — the perfect harbourside pause as you explore the Carnival celebrations.
Whether you’re searching for thoughtful gifts, treating yourself to something handmade, or even getting an early start on your Christmas shopping, the St Mawes Artisan Market offers a relaxed and enjoyable way to spend part of your Carnival Saturday.
